    e36 boot/central locking issue

I bent the boot latch on the car at the weekend, the boot refused to click shut after I'd rather stupidly tried to slam it with my lawnmower in there..

I managed to bend the latch back so it will now shut, now the car unlocks straight away after locking it with the fob. If I try again a second time with the fob, then it stays locked. Any ideas? Thankyou!

Sounds like you bent the linkage. Take the trim panel off and look for kinks

I'll have a look at that, I've another boot with the linkages in my shed so that'd be an easy fix.

Do you know where the sensor is for the alarm on the boot? Is it the same button thing that turns the boot light on/off? I'm thinking I may have disturbed this? The whole car locks then all of it unlocks a few seconds later (the same as if a door/bonnet/boot is left open when locking it)

Chances are you bent the linkcage and the mechanism is stiff and doesn't "throw over" properly.

Plunger switch in near side bump stop would be my guess for the light but not checked

Well, it's fixed! Managed to do it by going to work then sitting on my arse at home and now it locks first time. Maybe it was confused?

    If Carlsberg done car mechanics...
