    Audio aux in possibilities??

Hopefully someone can help me here?! As some know ive recently bought an e39 520, this is a 1997 and has a factory cassette and optiin for a boot shuffler. Usually i rwplace factory standard and stick an aftermarket stereo in, but personally i dont think they look right in the dash on these. I never listen to cds in the car, i prefer to plug my ipod in via aux in, which obviously this car doesnt have. Im not interested in a bmw dvd player either as i have a moto xoom tablet that i am going do use as an all round entertainment system inc sat nav. So my question is, is there a way i can somehow wire something into the car that cived me an aux in connection? And a link to instuctions would be grateful if you have them
    Thanks in advance, martin

If using factory radio , you could check out VOXMedia/DiceMedia Bridge which has aux & usb. It taps in to your CD changer connection (so you'll lose the CD Changer though)

A cheaper alternative is basically an "aux-in" cable-kit which taps in to radio harness (you'll still lose the CD changer , as the ipod becomes the new source)

OR you can make your "own" aux kit without spending too much... Google has revealed a lot of DIY's on how to do this, on various forums.

    Good luck

With a tape unit, it will probably be a hit or miss depending on the MY of it. I would go with Dice or Dension personally, but there may be an ipod retro kit for your model.

I'm not bothered about loosing the cd changer as there's not one in, so what am I searching for to tap into that exactly? Thanks

There's some crappy little things on fleebay for 20 but not sure how much use they'll be! For 20 it may be worth a gamble

Can recommend one of these Dynamic Sounds Aux connection kits. I've used one of these in my 2000 E46. Not sure if it's exactly the same kit but the principle will be the same.
Means I can now plug in the I pod.

Just checked my e bay purchase history and I bought this one:

    BMW E46, E39, E38 Mini Z8 MP3 iPod iPhone Aux Input Interface Adaptor CTVBMX002 | eBay

Or search on e bay for: BMW E46, E39, E38 Mini Z8 MP3 iPod iPhone Aux Input

Think you just need to check the connection as shown in the pics is the same. If unsure you could always contact them.

    Hope this helps
