Been having a really bad day today.
I started my day today at 8am to go to Leicester from London which is about 130 miles, I topped up a litre of engine oil first.
After driving about 30 miles on the M1, I had the oil warning come up, then about a minute later it cut out on me.
I tried restarting but it wouldn't start until about 2 minutes later when I was able to move the car to the hard shoulder.
I then tried restarting after it cut out on me but it wouldn't start of course but it was making a loud noise when cranking.
I checked the oil level & it was fine.
I called the AA, who advised me that there is no oil pressure & towed me back home, he told me to get it diagnosed in a garage & that theres nothing else he can do.
He made it clear to me that the engine has NOT seized up after checking by turning the crankshaft with a hand tool.
When the car got home, I left it parked for over 9 hours.
When I tried starting again, the noise was still there at times when I'm cranking & pressing the gas pedal at the same time, other times the noise wasn't there unless I was pushing it & holding gas pedal down.
I then decided to hook up INPA/DIS which threw 3 codes:
2731- Camshaft control inlet- VANOS
27BB- Camshaft control outlet- VANOS
2781- Camshaft sensor inlet
Please note that the check engine light was not illuminated at the time of breaking down or before.
Any help will be much appreciated.
