Hello all, I've recently had a new audio installation with Focal component speakers, sub-woofer and amp + Alpine head unit.
All was good bar a couple of minor items which the installer company agreed to put right free of charge during the system final tune. Got the car back a few days ago and noticed an "electrical buzzing" from the speakers.
Once I put the ignition on (engine not fired up) the head unit fires up - can hear a 3 second buzz - 5 or 6 electrical clicks - then quiet.
Fire up engine - no revs (engine idling) - constant buzzing.
Rev engine - buzzing stops.
Allow revs to drop back to idling - buzzing starts again.
With engine idling and buzzing going - switch headlights on and buzz changes frequency but still constant.
Prior to the car going back in for its final tune there were no electrical noises of any kind from the system at any time (ignition on, idling, engine revving).
The changes at the final tune included:
1) All speaker cables terminated with crimped terminals instead of bare twisted wires.
2) Sub-woofer was previously run off high level output from the head unit. I wanted this changed so the sub-woofer runs off low level outsputs from the head unit with RCA cables which had to be fitted.
3) Previously the Alpine head unit amp was switched "ON". I requested it be switched "OFF" so that the Focal amp was doing all the work (and not amplifying any distorted signals from the head unit).
From my description, can anyone tell why the speakers have started buzzing and how I might get rid of it ? Any suggestions much appreciated.
