Just had to get this off my chest as im getting a bit fed up of the negativity towards the shows this year, all I seem to read is moaning about them. When we all started the meets 6 years ago on BFUK the meet and shows themselves always came second, no one ever moaned about the shows themselves or the prices, the main point was to meet up with people and make friends and have a massive social. The meets themselves and the BMW's were the common ground that bought as all together. Now some of my best mates are people Ive met through them and the social side. Whats starting to piss me off are people moaning about a tenner to get into a show, the content of the show...etc
Tbh the BMW scene is small, how the hell are the organisers of any show going to fill the place up when even the jap scene in the UK is bigger. People have to get there head around this. It just annoys me when they moan about a tenner but are happy to spend £600 and go overdrawn for a set of wheels of some bumpers....
Seems to be the chat about going to mainly VW shows (players,DC etc) but whats the point, im into BMWs' and not VW's not a fan of MK4 golfs on bags with fucked arches thanks..
I think next year we need to get back into the social sides rather than stoking ego's
Never used to matter what state your car was in, or how it looked it was all about going to have a drink and a massive laugh with your mates.
I really enjoyed Santa Pod this year, and the BBQ was brilliant with great company, then all I heard the next day was people moaning about the show. Yeah things could be improved at all the shows but are we going for the cars, ego or to have a good laugh with many varied types of people.
I appreciate money is tight and people have a long way to come but just feel a bit dejected about the whole thing.
Where else can you go for a weekend for £25, have proper toilets, hardstanding, drifting, drag strip, jet car and loads more. The time of year could be changed but look at it from Pod's point of view, the peak summer season is full for the events that make them money. If we dont go places like Santa Pod will close and we will be left with nothing. Its hard enough being a petrol head in the UK without losing a venue such as Pod. I remember going there in 1996 it didnt even have proper toilets, and it wasnt half the place it is now, as they do constantly invest money.
Anyway, I enjoyed myself and am happy to pay £25 for the weekend, Im happy to pay a tenner at other venues to stand in a field im happy as im there with my mates and having a laugh, as for me thats what its all about
Anyhoo, thats my rambling over
