i have got the business tape player and oem cd changer in my 01 e46 saloon, the cd was inoperable when i got the car and when i saw the frankly criminal prices people want for oem mp3 cd headunits i decided to get a usb mp3 player box to fit instead of the broken changer.
i ended up with this cheapy chinese made one even though i bought it from germany instead and the pictures they had werent of the yatour unit i received, today i tried to fit it and after a patient battle with the dash trim i got the tape player out and connected it up,it goes between hu and the oem loom instead of mounting in the boot.
now for the problem. the head unit wont recognise it properly so when i switch from radio to cd it comes up briefly with cd5-15 as if its already reading a file then display says disc check,it will either sit on this or a few times with an ignition reset ive had it come up no disc after 30 secs or so,the storage media is fat 32 as the instructions dictate and ive got 6 albums in folders labeled CD01 thorough 06,and i checked all the albums are constant bit rate as apparently it wont do vbr
whats the chance the tape player is fubar and not the usb box as it displays the same issues with the usb as it does with the broken oem changer
anyone else used one of these yatour units successfully ? also the little rectangular plug(changer control??) that fits in under the main harness has no instructions on if the plug should be arrow down or arrow up(thats the only marking and its separate to the plug instead of integrated into the large block like the oem plug)
please help ive had enough of the retro tape colllection and radio 2!!!!
