Just bought a E36 328i which only came with one key and no alarm fob. The car does have the alarm sensors on the A pillars, and the siren under the bonnet says 3T.
Interestingly in the service history is a receipt from somebody taking a look as to why the alarm fobs stopped working, at a cost of £50+VAT or something - So I'm guessing they couldn't find the solution or the owner wasn't prepared to pay for the fix and threw the fobs away
So... a few questions.
Can I get a new key from the dealer, because I see that the 3T is also an immobiliser?
From my research it seems the 3T is a bit sh*t and people remove it and fit the 3G instead. I understand it will be expensive for me to go to BMW to get replacement alarm fobs.
I would very much like a new key and a working alarm, what are peoples suggestions? I'm not afraid of the work replacing an alarm, but I am afraid of large bills from BMW
