E36 328 vert, Lowering & Alloy Wheels Questions?

Hi I have an auto 328i convertible. it has original 16" alloys

    Attachment 8599

I'm very new to modifying and just want some opinions please... I want to put on 17 or 18 inch wheels and possibly lower the car. Purely for cosmetic reasons

But... although I can get the car to look prettier, the way I want it, I am assuming new wheels and lowering would impact performance i.e. would I be right in assuming, handling would improve, but acceleration may be affected? Going over bumps would be more painful?

Has anyone done such mods that could give me their experience / feedback?

Thanks fro your time, I am a noob.

I would get 17 s like contours and drop it on a bilstein/eibach spring and shock setup

Mines on coilovers buddy as im more into stance but gunner1 has the bilstein/eibach setup on his vert and excellent kit and better performance as it handles better.not cheap but very good upgrade.

Wheels is a personal choice but 18s esp on a vert is too big.

Mines on coils lowered on 18s , it's harsh and firm but handling is a little better but bumpy

As a noob, i think i'll start with 17s... see how it looks if it needs lowering...

18s will look the dogs i reckon, but as feedback suggests... performance is changed... and I live in London, so there's bumps everywhere i go, until i hit main roads.

Is it possible to see gunner1 pics of his wheels / car? Thanks

My coupe is on 17s and lowered 30mm on eibach springs with blistein shocks.

The ride is hard and you feel lots through the seats especially if the road is very rough but for cruising on motorway or smooth roads it's fine.
