Question Wanting more info on BMW Mini Superchargers??

Someone from here actually gave me the idea, well I am on the supercharging BMW 3 Series scene, now deal is I am told the Mini Superchargers in the UK can be had for as low as 99 pounds. Which is not bad, but considering how small they are if I am right, they may not convinced them to be the most substantial choice over the M62 blowers for engines over 2L.

Anyhow, can anyone educate me a bit about the minis that had superchargers, their availability, their upgrad-ablity, as in IIRC the BMW Mini uses the Eaton M45 Blower, were there variations of this blower, were there larger blowers fitted from factory. I just want to know more.

    Thanks

No idea on variations but many of the listings show cast in part nos.
    **Bmw Mini Cooper s Supercharger ** 2001-2006 | eBay

Maybe better suited to 4 pot engines?

Hmm.. I am due the first prototype for the M62/M90(Short Snout) to the UK this month but seems both me and my partner is caught up in a few things, Hes building a Foundry and well I am rebuilding the website for HMW (since the kid I hired made off with the funds and left me a fubar product.

But the M4x, M20 and N5X and eventually M6X is on the list, but we have to go slowly. the M62/M90 should open doors for the UK Crowd. Then transporting our work onto the 4 pot and the earlier M20 would be less work involved from looks of it. Still the M45 on the BMW Mini would be an option using the upcoming brackets.

I will likely have a chat with @Ferret before I go into any other details though.

Yep thats the same M45 alright! Its a 700cc blower, the M62 is the 1L variant. But both should be use able.

The Merc M62's would be choice #1 though if they are easy to find? I am told so and so but often they are over priced.

    The M45 would be nice on a 4 banger though or even a 320i/ 2L 6 pot.

Sorry, got kept away due to a few things, pushing the projects ahead and all that, a racecar equipped with one of our setups actually came 3rd in the american endurance races past april. Anyhow there are much developments in our roots supercharged project since I have last posted here that I will post another topic.

So back to this, well few months back we worked out a simple bracket setup that retains the stock manifold, something based off an old one off, anyhow was waiting to have them done in CAD (which still has not happened) but will be sending them to James in the UK who was wanting to use these to do a M62 setup.

So these are the brackets that should work with M45 mini blower as it will with the M62 and M90(Short snout).
