So as some of you know, my compact failed its MOT spectacularly. That car is now waiting to be driven around a field till it goes pop.
Last picture of the compact
This means new car for me.
So @Podge picked me up from work and gave me a lift to farnham in the fat punto
Where we had a look at this
98 318is coupe, oriental blue, 131000 miles and 12 months MOT.
Turned up and had a bit of a poke around, little test drive. The owner said he would probably let it go for the starting bid on ebay (£550) offered him 500 and shook his hand.
Driving it home all was going well, until the wheel wobble. The last time I felt wheel wobble like this, was shortly before this happened
Pulled over to check that wasn't about to happen again, then continued home.
First thing this morning I was at work balancing the wheels
which seems to have helped.
Got home and parked behind its shorter brother
Decided it would be a good idea to swap the powerflex lollipop bushes I have on the compact
With a little help from some vaguely willing volunteers
Didn't get any pictures of the ones that came off it, but they weren't pretty.
Also stuck some new plates on it, swapped out the front seats from the compact as they're sport ones whereas the coupe had standards. Put the radio and sub from the old one and the black grilles
Following the test drive its a lot better. still got a little under braking though, so was planning on swapping the discs from the old one to new (will they fit? 316 compact to 318is coupe?) just to rule out warped discs.
And decided that even though i really like how it looks, the exhaust is too loud/droney to keep, so it'll be swapped for something less irritating at some point
Thats all for now. hopefully there will be more updates soon enough!
