Over here in Western Australia, there isn't the interest that you guys have in Europe in modifying Euro cars.
Everything is Ford versus Holden, V8's preferably and as loud and in your face as possible.
Being a Pom, I never got into that even though in the 26 years I've been here I've owned V8's, 4 ltr Straight 6's etc.
Back in 2010 I was home on the Wirral and bought a Ford Sierra RS Cosworth 3 dr, 1986.
It was one of four owned by Ford and was a press car in its day, lots of history.
I've spent a few bob on it getting into show condition, not concourse,I cant be bothered with all that.
I bought Peugeot 205 GTi 1.6 Dimma as a project, but a local friend has persuaded me to sell it to him as his project
Anyway last December I bought the only Peugeot 205 GTi Turbo Technics 1.9 Dimma in the southern hemisphere to have some more Euro show fun with it and I have.
Then I realised, I'm 60, and I like my comfort these days so I looked around for a new project.
I bought this 2006 built 2007 registered E60 530d with 85,000 kms on the clock, and a good looker, no damage.
Its a comfortable drive that will still go nicely when pushed, I have my other two if I feel like a track day or, in the case of the Pug, riding a skateboard
I looked around at body kits ( obviously I like body kits given the other 3 cars and the previous building of an MK 1 Escort Funny car replica and a slammed and de trimmed Humber Hawk Station wagon built a a British version of a 1957 Chevy Belair Nomad ?) and found the Prior Design Widebody kit for the E60.
I ordered it through Tuning World here in Sydney and today it arrived in the driveway.
I packed it all back into the wife's 4wd and took it to my local guru, Ross, at So Cool Custom Workshop, who had helped so much with the Sierra getting it through compliance and registered.
So that were we are at the moment.
I've chosen the wheels, Aristo 02 RFK Wires, 20 x 10.5" for the rear and 20 X 9" for the fronts and they are ordered.
Just got to come up with the right tyres to go with them now as well.
The car is Titan Silver and its staying that colour, I like it, even though the wife reckons white would be better.
I will be removing the DPF and rear boxes and fitting straight through dual pipes courtesy of a local exhaust genius, more on that later.
Also I'll be talking with Ecotune and getting their dpf bypass pipes and using their software to remap the whole system.
That is the plan, the Turbo technics Dimma will no doubt have to go to finance all this, but so be it
I'll post pics as it comes together and I'd also appreciate constructive comments and suggestions
If it stops raining tomorrow I'll take some pics of the car before everything starts.
If no one is interested I'll can the project reports until its all finished ?
