Well here's the replacement for the 328i, 1st things first; it's not as quick it does however feel more lively which is good. Collected it last night from the Bradford area, in the dark - always the best way to collect cars i think, makes looking round them easier especially when you're 1350ft above sea level, on the edge of a hill, with a biting wind and no street lamps, or names come to that.... Well i say easier, maybe quicker would describe it better
The good bits are:
It was cheap
It's a sport
It got the 180 miles home without a problem (barring an HT lead that fell off!)
It has ccfl's (a mod i'd have liked to do to the 328 but, never got round to!)
It seems to be more economical than the 328
It was cheap!!
The bad bits;
168k (now 169!) and some recent stamps in a book but, the original book was lost so who knows before that!
M sport steering wheel has had it (replacement now on it's way thanks to eBay!)
The ccfl's worked perfectly last night although as you can see from the pic 2 now seem to be dim, could just be that the engine wasn't running but, probably not
The washer fluid did a great job of cleaning the forecourt when i topped it up (now fixed, in the daylight today it was obvious a pipe had come off, fitted new wipers too!)
Front grill has had a knock (most of it should pull out by hand)
Sport front bumper is missing the grill and has some holes drilled in it
Drivers door check strap has broken the mount off the pillar causing the door to be bent (should straighten a bit with a rubber mallet)
Interior lights work but, not when any of the doors open
A blind, hamfisted gorilla fitted the stereo, the plug has been cut off against the plug, the surrounding trim is all broken and not all the speakers seem to be correctly wired up If anyone is breaking an e36/34 or whatever has the same stereo plug and is happy to cut it off the car loom with enough wire for me to use i'd be most grateful and willing to part with monies!!
The locking wheel nut key is missing
The bonnet cable is broken
The clutch feels a bit spongy and bites near the top but doesn't slip..... yet!!
It doesn't go like the 328 did and isn't the 328
It possibly wasn't cheap enough!!
Anyway, it's mot'd until October and has rent until May so its not all bad, it does drive really well and feels nice and tight and most of the bad is easily sorted so i'll shut up and give you the pictures now
