So the Audi is gone (thank fuck for that!) and it has been replaced by an E36 318i 'loon. I wouldn't have gone for another little 4 pot had it not been for the fact it cost me nothing but a ruined Audi. The power steering pump was almost dead, the engine whined badly above 1500/2000rpm and the last straw was on the way to work one morning it decided to empty the coolant. It was pissing oil and needed rear wishbones as well and after a 4 wheel alignment it still didn't drive straight. With my little girl due in November it had to go and it had go for another BMW!
It's really nothing special Tbh.
Old man spec wood, with switches for the rear windows (even though they're not electric! ).
This was the first thing to go! Just before it went in the bin.
As it had the holes for the straps...
I got hold some straps.
Storm gearknob bought for a second hand cost!
Got a sticker bomb sheet to hide some of the wood and replacement ashtrays (previous owner had ruined the old ones with fag ash).
Not perfect but it'll do.
Storm gearknob fitted as well. Looks sooooo much better! I'm sure @Devil with agree!
That's it for now. I've already stripped, cleaned and refitted the interior. I've also rubbed down and repaired where one of the jacking covers fits. The air con has been re-gassed quite recently as well so it's ice cold! Other plans are simple as it's going to be the daily, family car. Ready to be abused and to supermarket trips and hospital trips and that kinda thing. Basic list:-
- Mtec front and rear bumpers.
- Side skirt covers.
- Tidy up rust.
- Remove stupid spoiler.
- Tint windows.
- New number plates (existing ones are very manky).
- Find some matching doorcards and rear headrests.
- Noise maker backbox.
- Lower (probably just springs).
- Wheels. Something simple and low maintenance.
- Suspension refresh (I work at Euros so can get everything quite cheap).
No plans to stick a bigger engine as Tbh it's not worth the cost as this little engine should prove bullet proof. Just want to make it look nicer as I'm planning to get a second car anyway at some point (but being very patient about it so don't expect me to reveal anything yet!) ready for next years Holland trip to Bimmerflex.
