The Journal Of An Old Black Bimmer

    Hi folks,

Well after trying out a couple of non BMWs ive ended up back with what i like

    1995 e34 520 24v manual in Cosmos Black with 177000 miles on, 500 quid.

Its only Mots till end March but thats what you get for that

20 stamps in the book up to 150000 then serviced DIY style

Heres some pics. Wasnt as dirty when i got it but ive been ragging about in it

Happy with it so far. Gearchange is slick, clutch is light and it sounds great

    Problems:

PO said front drivers shocker is goosed and the other one isnt far behind, and you can tell iLl replace them and the rears and lower the front 40mm

Takes about 3 or 4 seconds to start on the motor hot or cold. PO said its done that for ages but ill maybe check that out, always starts the same tho

Airbag light is on. Said his mechanic told him its the slip ring, does sound like its clicking somewhere so ill check that as well.

Had oil change, plugs, air and fuel filter in last couple of thousand miles so ill leave that for now. New rad and fan coupling as well

Mot check said brake pipes, fuel pipes and steering pipes were rusty but look good so think theyve been replaced. Was an advisory a couple of years ago.

Gonna really try not doing too much with this but time will tell.

Maybe change the wheels and lights

happy with this and enjoy driving it, feels quite lively for what it is really Might still ask Enda about the ECU tho

Thats it till i do the shocks etc maybe in a couple of weeks

    Thanks for looking guys

Unfortunately it takes dedication to keep them going and a heck of a lot of effort! A lot of people want a good looking car that doesn't require the treatments to keep rot out etc so go for something a bit more modern but which isn't necessarily as retro cool!

Not that I blame them mind, takes a certain type of person I guess!

Despite the high cost of living, It remains popular!

Never bullshit a bullshitter, they'll just bring you down to their level and trash you with experience!

A mate of mine recently admitted that he was a brake fluid addict! When I quizzed him about it he insisted that he could stop any time.

Should be a good little project.
As said above, you don't see too many of these older 5ers still on the road, which is a shame.

Yeah i couldnt help it. Was gonna go look at an e39 523 if this was no good but i like this better

You know about these yourself and it makes a great noise when its up the revs and is fast enough to enjoy really. Was Endas remap good for more power further down the rev range?

177000 miles and everythings still slick on it

You do know you keep buying / selling / breaking the same cars over and over again
If you kept one you would not have to keep doing the same jobs over and over

Do you have yourself some diagnostics for these?

Yeah your right but the other ones went there way for various reasons, the 535 mainly because of the heavy clutch

Happy with the e32 and this now so gonna stick with these. Might be getting another one tomorrow as it happens

Havent got diags but i think a Peake tool will do me

Doesn't that just do engine? Or does it do your airbags and ABS as well?
