Introduced my NACA duct to the bonnet yesterday evening. Went ok i think. I needed a small cutout in the front next to the radiator, but i really wanted it located just above the airfilter. Cold air gallore

Next up will be machining my front struts. I did the coil over conversion to them, but the new brake brackets are a little "meh".. So they are coming off and better new ones will be attached. Will have a mate help with this as he has all the toys to make it sit spot-on. In the mean time i will need to order a new set of front lower balljoints (complete lower arms) and a set of poly bushes is a must here too. So that will be ordered at Wallothnesch. This will conclude the front axle setup and the rest should be simple adjustment on the corner weights. I also still need to make some new brakelines as the 4 pots has got 2 brake fluid intakes instead of one.

Oh my god itīs been a full year since my last entry ! ?

Been pretty busy with work, house etc, but i have finally gotten to a point in my life where work and free time are more consistant. So i have yet again time to mess around with the old E21

Still planning to get it to the tracks and i have decided to start with the business end of the thing, getting the best and most out of the M20 lump. That means discarding the BOSCH injection. The M20 has always been notorisly difficult to tune (unless you turbocharge the lump) due to the fact that most people tend to keep the factory injection system on the engine. Tuning options here are very limited and reaching the 200hp mark is notorisly difficult. For my part i am looking for 200hp on a stock 2,5 M20 and in time maybe a bit more, but that will require some head work, flow and higher CR, and a agressive camshaft.

So i am triple carbīin the sucker. I love sidedraughts and back in the day i did alot of these conversions. I have never had an engine that didnīt get relativly big power gains by getting a nicely tuned set of sidedraughts. The best results was without a doubt a Opel Monza i once had. I installed a 180hp Carlton GSI engine and completely stock only with a set of 40mm sidedraughts it produced 212hp with stock exhaust etc. In my mind there is no reason why i wouldnīt see powergains around the 20-25hp on the M20. Otherwise i will eat my words

I already have a short and exiting 2,5" exhaust solution on the car, so what i will be installing is the triple carbs and a high flowing exhaust manifold with heat wrap + a lightened flywheel. Ignition wise i will also be downgrading as the old original 2,0 engine was carbīed ab fabrik, and i have the ignition system from this engine still. However a EDIS 6 ignition type with wasted spark would be very nice, but that is not the priority right now as i have a system that works, at least for a beginning.

Other tweaks include baffle plates in the sump to keep the oil level alligned when cornering, a E36 radiator system with integrated expansion canister, a oil return system from the head to the block and other stuff.

First part of my elaborate plan require me to remove the engine from the car, so i started removing all the electronics and accessories to get down to the iron lump itself.

Only need to get the bolts for the gearbox and the engine mounts and its ready to come out

    More to follow, cheers mates!

Welcome back Ruben unfortunately we can't see your photos as Photobucket no longer hosts 3rd party images without you paying a ludicrous fee

You might look to using an alternative as discussed in these threads ? https://www.ghacks.net/2017/07/02/ph...r-third-party/
