    Suj's E36 328i Tracktoy

    Hi All,

    I am Suj from Birmingham.
    I am a petrol head from very young (a mechanic uncle who let me help out at 11 years old, and also work at JLR after Uni, so cars are a big part of my life).

    I've been to a few trackdays in my previous cars, I had a S14a 200sx as my last car, I had never had a turbo petrol so wanted to try it (not normally a turbo guy), it was loads of fun, seriously quick, but I missed Naturally Aspirated, came back from Nürburgring, where the car was perfect, but really wanted a NA again, so when I got back I was just scouring the net and it came up.

    Plans are to be tracked up (the Nissan was more a weekend/track car).
    I wanted an E36 M3, but insurance was a raping lol, so I got this as a kind of stop gap, with all the mods I can then transfer to a M3 in the future

    So was down there on weekend with a mate to view it, it was just as described, had a passenger window regulator playing up, and a bit of rust on rear boot (lower), otherwise it was spot on, FSH (BMW except last 2) 154k on the clock, and was very tidy.

    I wanted a Sport with the bumpers etc, but for £800 for this, I cannot argue at all.

    Plans are:
    * Stripped out
    * M3 brakes (or a BBK later on)
    * 2x Buckets + Harnesses
    * Coilovers (leaning more towards the HSD's with Nür-Spec springs they are currently doing on Driftworks)
    * Uprated ARB's
    * M3 Sunflowers + Sticky rubber
    * LSD (I have ASC :( lol)
    * Polybush as much as I can
    * Front splitter and rear GT type wing.
    * Dave F induction
    * M50 manifold + remap
    * Cage (when I get free cash, not something I want to skimp on lol).
    * X-Brace, Z3 shorter shifter, Z3 rack etc.

    Things I have now paid for:
    * 3.2 M3 Evo front and rear brakes, BMC + Servo
    * Rogue Engineering rear reinforced top mounts
    * M3 front and rear bumpers (So hard to find in Boston Green) getting them Sunday
    * M3 Sunflowers

    So got a few bits to keep me busy and transform the car, I should hopefully order my Coilovers soon too.

    I don't my first mod....the "Golf tee" mod hahaha, best 3mins I have spent, sounds so much better

    Here is some inspiration pics I got, I really like Craig's car, been following it a while now on Northloop

    Hope everyone is well

    Craig's track car looks awesome. I've read his project thread start to finish. I was quite pleased when he saved it after the crash as well! If yours is anything like his then you'll be onto a winner.

    Also, I've got HSDs but afaik a track only car will need stiffer springs as the spring rate is too low for track only.

    Thanks boys.
    I have wanted an E36 M3 for quite a long time, but being 1) a BMW and 2) an "M" insurance just was being stupid, but for some reason 328i is good for me (like S14a 200sx was fine too).
    I have had idea's for a track one for a while, then I seen Craig's on NL forum, and I was like "wow, he has literally built more or less what I would want in a E36" but he has had so many other fine touches, which just make it great.
    I was soooo gutted when he crashed it, glad he hasn't given up though

    Yep Prince, if you see above, I wrote about the "Nür-Spec" Driftworks are doing, instead of the 7 and 6.5kg/mm springs, they do a 10 and 10kg/mm spring set, and they don't charge extra which is great.
    Link to them: HSD MonoPro Monotube Coilovers for BMW E36 M3, and non M3 models ^Now with optional Nur Track Pack Spring Upgrade

    If only mine wasn't used as a daily as well! I'm still very interested to hear what you think about the HSDs will stiffer springs though.

    I'll post up what I think, also I am in Birmingham (but work in Coventry, Whitley) so if you do want to come out in it, more than welcome to when I got them on, as i'm sure you could get the springs from DW seperately if you asked.

    Bon Bon (Ben, one of the DW Mod's) is running them on his E36 M3 Cabriolet, he has them for sale at the moment (might of sold) but says they are fine for road too when damping is turned down.

    That's him drifting at Brunchen lol

    Nice one mate. I'll have to take you up on that as I'm wanting to get in track days myself.

    No problem dude, will give you shout when I have done, with winter getting closer, I might just wait until new year when I make the purchase unless I am so bored I just spend it hahaha.

    So updates:

    Went and got my M3 front and rear bumpers, bloody hell it is hard to get M-Tech or M3 bumpers in Boston Green lol.

    M3 Front bumper on, but side bracket (slides on) was missing on drivers side, I have ordered one, and made a thread on here and someone backed up what I thought of TigerSeal'ing it on, so should be here tomorrow

    Also took delivery of some Staggered M3 Sunflowers (tyres are all illegal, and for some reason 235/45/17 on all 4 lol, so will be having 225/45/17 and 245/40/17's which I need to order).

    Really cannot wait to get the rear bumper and wheels on, that is this weekends tasks to source some tyres and get the bumpers on (and fix the drivers side front slider).

    Least you were lucky to get the bumper in the correct colour, some of us had to get the wrong colour & go through tiresome repaint process lol.

    Take pics of the wheels once they're fitted! I like sunflowers
