Well I am back into the fold!
As you know I have been after a Diesel BMW for a while now and a decent 320d came up locally so I bought it. Should do me for a few years till I can afford a 330d E46 or maybe even a 330 or 335 E90 or E60 diesel.
Its a 2004(54 plate) 320d SE in Sapphire Black with M47TUD20 engine and 6 speed manual box on 122,000 miles. Its got dark cloth interior, shadowline trim, CD headunit(no changer though), air con, cruise, electric windows all round, auto dim rear view mirror, front fogs, rear parking sensors. Its also got normal bulb headlamps, which I actually prefer to Zenon(Give a worse light IMO and are more complicated). Not sure if it has auto lights....
It also had a brand new AutoGlass windscreen last Friday and a new MOT on Tuesday this week.
As some of you know from another thread the owners had a private plate on it and removed it when they sold it so I have to wait until the revised logbook comes back to them before I can transfer it to my name and tax/insure it. Hopefully it will be back in a couple of weeks time.
Now being the negative person I am, here is whats wrong with it:
Both rear view mirror glasses have started to separate/water ingress
Has a duff reverse sensor(constant bleeping)
ABS light is on the dash all the time
Small dent under the N/S/R lamp and a scratch on the bottom of the bumper
Interior has some small damage to a couple areas(from being a company car all its life I suppose, hands free ect)
A piece of trim is missing off the O/S front of the bumper, covers the temp sender
I suppose alot of the above come from it being a company car and not having a proper owner, nothing overly major(pending ABS light investigation) though I don't think.
The service history is quite good, although it is due for its oil change now. I already have the oil(expensive part) so not to much of a problem.
In my tradition for new cars I am going to have the engine apart as soon as I get it
While its off the road I am going to remove and clean the manifold and EGR valve and blank the swirl flaps. I've also been advised to check the oil separator and replace the vacuum hoses under the manifold while I'm in there.
As I said above I'll B-Service it as well and if I can rob the oil from work change the gearbox and diff oils
After taxing it I will work on the things in the above list and see how it goes.
Not actually driven it myself yet on the road, but my boss says that its very nice to drive and pulls very well.
Any input is good to hear, good or bad
