I went and finally picked it up today. I thought I might as well start a little thread for it as it's now a member of the family. There are no plans for it, except getting it back to as it should be. First off is a smashed side repeater which @wanda has covered and @Dansinclair11 has the missing CD box covered.
I went and got it by train, a walk to the station, a train, another train the wrong way, another train back to where I took the wrong train, then a coach, then another coach, then a lift off the garage owner. It only took 5 hours.
Unfortunately it's pissing down and I'm not going out there to take pics, so here's what I've got. Ladies and Germs, I'd like to introduce you all to the BMW 318 Touring in a green colour.....
Then the result of today's mission....home.
It drove nice and I can't complain although the wheel balancing is up the spout. I'm saving that for when I get two decent tyres for the front. It's had a roadrunner bunged on for the MOT and the worn pirelli is in the boot. A couple of issues as expected, it had a worn M gearknob that comes off without much effort and it had an M steering wheel which I don't want on it either. The tyres as mentioned and the air con is innop and is the only thing I didn't check I can't hear the clutch engage on the compressor so I'll have a look into that when I get the bonnet up. And the rear wiper is worn. Other than that it all works. The car is filthy under the arches in the common places and under the bonnet and will need a clean out. I like getting cars with dirty engines, you can see the leaks if it has any. Also some dirt marks on the head lining which I'll wash out.
All in all it appears that it is in decent order and ready for work.
