Hi from another newbie! Owned my E39 528 for 7 years, and never thought to join here before, silly me! Anyhow, I am experiencing a very strange squirm from the rear end under hard braking. I have just noticed that for some strange reason the offside rear wheel appears to be toed in. So got a piece of wood laid it across the wheel and measured the distance from the wood to the top of the sill, the gap on the offside as about 10mm less than the nearside. I had never noticed this before, so don't know if thats how it had been set up when I had the alignment (laser) done a while ago, but this problem has only shown itself over the last few days. Also, now and then, there is a clink or some sort of noise coming from the rear offside too.
I just wondered if anyone had any ideas as to what may be wrong before I take it to a garage?
The car drove as it should up to a couple of weeks ago, it also feels like its skipping sideways (to the left) when I drive over a bump if that helps. I used to get that before I had the alignment done.
The car hasn't been curbed or had any damage, so hopefully its something small? I would greatly appreciate any help or suggestions. Thanks in advance, G.
