Not sure if this is the correct section but i need some help with choices of clutches and flywheels on my project car ( e36 Compact, had a 328 engine/box)
What i have :
S50b32 ( M3 3.2 engine from a convertible ) - bought off ebay, assumed it originally had a 6 speed attached - I have a flywheel but no clutch
M52b28 Engine and Gearbox ( from a 328I touring)
I was Planning to put the 5-speed gearbox from the 328 engine onto the M3 evo engine - read that it fits ( still need to test this though! ) My problem is clutches! I was planning to Keep the m3 evo flywheel and buy a m3 evo clutch, According to ream OEM they are both 240mm However on a random Google search someone said that they m3 evo (3.2) flywheel and clutch will not marry up to the 328i gearbox (something fouls inside the bellhousing) but that was only one post and not much is wrote about it and i dont have a m3 clutch to test this!
So im not sure what to do, can anyone confirm if fitting a M3evo flywheel and clutch into a 328i gearbox will cause issues? I dont want to go buy a clutch and it wont fit. My other choice is to use the 328i flywheel (clutch is in good nick but would probably buy a new one anyway but im not sure how long the flywheels last for on these BMWs?) , considering the car is lighter than a m3 perhaps i will get away with this?
Any thoughts or ideas would be very welcome!
