8v to 16v head conversion

    8v to 16v head conversion

    Im looking to make my e36 318i m43 8v a 16v by chaning the head does anyone know if this is possible and if so what engine i will need to source the head from

    Although it may seem to be as straight forward as just swapping the heads, sadly it just isn't that simple, you would need the 16v pistons too, as the top of them is different to promote swirl, also the ECU's would need to be swapped then there are all of the other ancilliary parts that you would need, in a nutshell, it simply isn't worth all that effort for the 27 extra horse power (or whatever it is) that you would gain, it would in fact be far simpler to swap the entire engine over instead!

    I knew i would need ecu and a few other bit but it would be worth changing full engine then hhmmm might have to leave that idea for a little while

    to be honest, if you went trawling ebay, you would easily find a complete engine with all ancils for less than the cost of a brand new 318is head, guaranteed, plus you have a choice of so many other engines 328 maybe!

    M52 2.8 would be your best bet for cheap power! 200bhp and cheap and reliable and cheap!

    My guess is that i will need all acc's ecu adn key and transpoder unit will the 318 gearbox fit
