Hi, New to this forum here, but glad to see some info for the M44's.
I have a '97 Z3 1.9 M44 with DASC, and am running a Fidanza E36 M3 lightweight alum flywheel, E36 M3 Pressure plate, and E34 M5 sprung clutch friction disk, and it all came together perfect.
Good grip, no chatter, and so far good reliability (SACHS brand clutch parts). Entire setup cost about $750 when I was gathering the parts.
I am running a stage3 setup for the DASC, (M3 MAF, bigger injectors, smaller pully, 10-12psi, etc), and next would love to do an oil cooler setup...

Typical. I have an n46 4 Pott. So I miss out on mods. 15bhp seems very high for a remap. I thought real world bhp gains for remaps on petrol are around 6bhp max?
You said you can fit diesel turbos on petrol? Like a 320d? Where is the oil feed fed from on a car with out a turbo to start with?
I read some threads about cutting new opening ports to the stock lower airbox of M44 engine, either redirecting with hoses or just with mesh restrained opening for more air intake. Also they mentioned about removing sound isolator foams away. Logically, it sounds flaw free. But...
Wondering if that will work regarding improving performance?
i suppose it comes down to how restrictive the standard airbox is once you start flowing air to a turbo, try driving it a small distance with the airbox removed,if throttle response and spool time are different enough to notice then its worth investigating freeing up the intake
sound isolator foam? do you mean the stuff attached to the underside of the bonnet?
question about M43 ECU upgrade/replacement.
can anyone please let me know where I can find a company the sells upgraded ECU for the M43 engine?
I don't want to go as far as stand alone ECU but may be forced to.
If I need to go stand alone ECU can you recommend type / brand etc.

Camshaft from m43,
KKK K29 turbo from volvo FH7 truck,
8x440cc injectors from toyota supra,
clutch plate audi 2.2 turbo(AAN),
clutch disk m20b25(225mm),
MS1 v2.2 ecu,
throttle body M60b30,
audi 2.2 turbo wastegate,
ford focus ST intercooler,
bosch 044 fuel pump
Getting a little refreshment and rebuild at the moment, but before that ran 13,62s@1/4mile with 1bar of boost (so about 280bhp). That was with very rough and basic tune. Next month hoping to get it running good and also dyno-tune and test it.
Going for atleast 400bhp, so hoping for good 12's next year
So be like me.. do not unterestimate the power of M40 engine
