I'm new to your site, just joined.
I was hoping someone my be able to help with uneven tyre wear on a f11, 60 plate 520d tourer.
From when we collected the car from a main dealer we drove about 3000 miles and the car went to a different dealer for a check before the warranty expired. We were told the N/S rear tyre was dangerous and the tracking needed adjusting. The tyre looked OK, but looking underneath the car, the very edge of the inboard side was split and some of the bands were exposed, the rest of the tyre had 3-4mm left. I checked the O/S rear tyre, this was OK.
I approached the dealer that we bought the car from and they just said that the tyre pressures were probably wrong or we hit a pothole, (maybe I reversed it at pothole at high speed), The car was checked when it left here, basically they walked away from it.
Now some 4000 miles later the O/S rear tyre has gone exactly the same way.
The tyres are runflats which I have had no previous experience with.
My question is, has anybody came across anything like this, or have any suggestions, I am a bit reluctant to have the tracking checked by BMW as they have quoted about £400, and I can't see why It would need checking on a car that has only done 30000 miles.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
