1 series 2011 with runflat tyres, will I have to use run flats to replace or not?

My Mrs has a 2011 1 series convertable.Anyway it has 205/50/17 runflat tyres fitted. They will need replacing soon. I would like to know will I have to replace with runflats or can I replace with normal tyres? If I don't replace with runflats will this have implications wit the insurance possibly?
Has anyone had this dilemma in the past?
    I hope you can help.

    Thanks. Lee.

Hi Lee, yes you can replace run flats with standard tyres.
You need to change both tyres on one axle as a minimum & you'll need to buy a spare tyre or a suitable inflation kit.
However your Mrs may well prefer the reassurance of runflats tho?

All 4 tyres will require replacement anyway. Will this have implications on the insurance though as I know the tyres are the same size but the car came with run flats from the factory.

    Thanks. Lee.

No you shouldn't have any problems with your insurance as long as the tyres are of a suitable size (found on the tyre information plate in drivers door shut) , load & speed rating.
To err on the side of caution & put your mind at rest Lee please contact your insurers for conformation.

No worries mate & although I'm confident the insurance Co. won't have any problems please post up your own findings as it'll no doubt prove very useful for other members
