    Colour Advice please

Hi Folks, I have a 97 328 ic and I want to refurbish a set of OEM wheels. My question is how the heck are you supposed to figure out what the stock silver is for these wheels? I went to my usually reliable parts store and they said they could get some paint made up for me if I had the code. Went to the beemer dealer in town and they gave me eight colour possibilities: A57, A56, A55, B20, 144, A80, A91, A44. They could not, however, tell me which one of these codes went with my stock wheels....a fact that I found a little bizarre. It's a stock colour you guys!! Decided to go to a body shop that does good work here in town and they told me they just do the old "Hold it up to the light and if it looks close, go with that" routine. Sheesh! Anybody know what I should be looking for? I'll see if I can attach a pic. Thanks!

Okay, I have it narrowed down to two possibilities, thanks to a parts guy in Vancouver. Next time I'm over there, I'm gonna bring the parts department some doughnuts!

One possibility is A44, Reflexsilber met.

The other is A80, Ferricgrey met.

Apparently the spray cans are not imported into Canada, only the touch-up sticks, so I think I'll see if I can get the paint and body guy at my parts store to scan one of the wheels. The parts guy also told me there are only two stock in Canada as well, so I am one of two. Probably means one of two 97's with these wheels; I would expect there are other years out there with them because the 328i was produced from 94 to 2000.

Anyway, thanks to everyone who looked in and went Hmmm. :-)

Update: I went to the local parts place and got them to scan one of the wheels. They came up with a silver that belongs on Range Rovers but looks pretty close to the BMW silver I'm looking for. If I were doing a restoration of the car, I wouldn't be satisfied with that and would probably even phone Germany! As it is, I'm just cleaning up some wheels and trying to get close to the stock colour, so I'll settle
for what I have....a couple of spray cans that should do the job.
