Hi all, My 2006 X3 2.0d SE has had the Engine Management light on & off over the last 2 months but with no real affect on performance. However in the cold weather it will turn over & start first thing in the morning but then immediately stall. After a couple of attempts it will then start & run normally. Later in the day, when warmed up a bit it will start no problem. have had a mate with a diagnostic fault code reader look at it & it has shown either Air Mass sensor or PDF. Sometimes the EML light will go out on its own whilst driving, other times I have had it reset & it will stay off for several days & then ping back on again.
After searching the dreaded net i have come up with either Terraclean or " engine carbon clean" as a possible solution before the expense of a strip down & physical clean of the intake system, EGR, swirlflaps etc.
has anyone had either of these services done & did they work? Anyone do them in the Northwest/ west Yorks area
Any other ideas/diagnosis to permanently get rid of the dreaded EML light/
any help greatly appreciated, cheers Alan
Should have said that I disconnected the Air mass sensor one morning before attempting to start it & it still stalled on the first couple of attempts, also the vehicle has done 87k miles, 6k of which have been done in the 9 months of my ownership, quite a few short,5-10 mile trips, but a good blast over the Pennines at least once a fortnight.
