This is my first message and, unfortunately, a plea for your help.
I own a 2.0d F25 2011 that is currently on 56k miles. Over the past few weeks, I have become aware of ' hiccup ' at around 2000rpm, happening every now and then. After a trip away last week that entailed a 200 mile motorway run, the ' hiccup ' has now developed into a definite splutter - it appears to be evident when cruising at a steady speed and the throttle is pressed ie changing lanes etc. I kept an eye on things and at 70 / 75ish, the engine sits at around 1800 / 2000 rpm. The splutter occurs at these rpm's and seems to disappear when 2500 rpm is reached or, if the engine is driven harder, it doesn't happen at all. If it were a petrol engine, I would be describing the splutter as a misfire. There is a noise when the splutter happens - feel free to laugh at the description - it sounds like a lazy dogs bark deep within the engine bay that goes when the revs pick up.
I have read with interest other peoples problems and issues with this engine ( N47N ) and I am fully aware of turbo failings, sensor problems etc etc, but none seem to replicate what I am getting, so before delving under the bonnet, I thought I'd ask you good people if you knew of anything to look at to save time.
For info, the car drives perfectly around town - mainly low gears and plenty of changing. There are no lights or limp home mode issues. No smoke. In fact, the car seems fine until a longer period of driving has taken place.
Any advice or ideas would be greatly received - I certainly don't have a problem with working under the bonnet, but just didn't want to waste time or money.
Thanks in advance
