Can someone help find the name of this part?

Hey people. I recently had a problem starting my 2004 X3, the car won't turn on because when you put the key in there is no click, it is all lose inside the ignition switch.

I bought a new ignition switch, but then I found out there was another issue. Another part was also broken. This part:

I don't know the name of it. But it looks like a port the lock cylinder.

Can someone please tell me the name of it? I want to order it online, but I don't know how to look for it. It is a small part and I have no idea under what name I can find it.

    Thank you.-imagejpeg_0-jpg

Thanks for the link. My problem is that I don't know the name of the part to look for it. It is a weird part. I don't know the name. Is the one in the picture. It goes by the lock cylinder of the ignition switch, by the assemply tumbler.

@stratagustav Are there any identification numbers on the part you have?

Yeah, there is no number and I don't see anything like it. I guess I'll have to buy the whole steering column, and take the part from there. Thanks for the help though.

Before you buy the whole steering column is it feasible to take the part into your local BMW Dealers Parts Department? they might be able to identify the part for you

That was definitely my intention, but I work full time so unless I miss work, the Internet is my best bet. I did call them, but we couldn't figured it out.

Only other thing I can suggest is that you email them the photo of the part in the hope they can identify it?
Have to say I've browsed through RealOEM & I haven't spotted anything that looks similar!
