Apologies but Iím in urgent need of an insurance related rant. Most of us know by now the whole thing is ridiculous and based on some bizarre formulae and principles totally unfathomable to anybody. My latest attempt to insure an M3 has properly compounded thisÖ
Now I think Iím reasonable at playing the system, and I think Iíve always got a ďgood dealĒ on my insurance. When getting initial quotes on an M3 I managed to get the price down to about £850 for a coupe and £1400 for a vert Ė so a vert was out based on this. That quote expired whilst I looked at cars so I redid it and everything went up by about 800/900 quid with the exact same details! Now I have redone the quotes again (same details again) and this time round insuring a vert is significantly cheaper than a coupe!
Now I fully accept an M3 isnít going to be cheap to insure but surely there should be at least some consistency in the system. I feel like they are putting my details into a random number generator and seeing what comes up! Not helpful when you are looking at outlaying 10k plus on a motor and insurance and need to budget. I could pay 2k for insurance if I wanted to but I refuse Ė any company charging that should be wearing fingerless gloves and a mask.
