    INPA - driving me mental

    I've connected to car

fire up INPA, red light on lead flashes

    select E46....then get options

    Body
    Engine
    Chassis
    Navigation
    Gearbox

I try engine / control unit not found
I try body, chassis, gearbox, and can get in, but can't select engine....

    Reinstalled drivers, software, cleared cable...

Still no go, but, the time I connected before this, it was all working fine.....getting live data, working like a dream...

    What am I doing wrong...

    Ignition lights on?

"can get in" means nothing. Do you mean you can read error messages etc on those items?

Sorry for being vague ... I was going out of my mind..... yes, I can access other data in other categories, just can't get into the engine menu, which was fine the last time I hooked up....any advise is more than welcomed.

I am literal but it's the only way to keep on the same page.

Now if you have a modified OBD II cable such as a Vag Com / KKL with FTDI 232 RL chipset then..............

IIRC these get engine out of the box but only get other modules if you bridge two wires Point being if all comms are coming through the same 2 bridged pins then something weird is up or you have a broken / bent pin / physical error as long as you are using the right options but it's kind of hard to not pick the correct engine.

Have any modules such as light control, dash or EWS been altered or replaced since last time it worked?

All guess and supposition of course

Car hasn't moved since last hook up, nothing changed, only difference I can think of is windows 10 did an update....but, I've done a fresh install of the BM cables software, drivers, set comm port again.... it talks to the car, just won't read any engine data.
