Trouble installing driver onto OBD II lead

Hi guys, been having some issues installing the vcp driver onto my obd II lead and wondering if anyone has any ideas as ive ran out?

Ive bought a VAG OBDII lead off ebay and modified it but no matter what I try windows cant find the fdti vcp driver to install onto the OBD lead, even when I point it straight at the folder.

I started this process on my laptop with Vista and ive seen a few people having various issues with installing it on vista, so i've eliminated that problem by splitting the hard drive and running a dual-boot with windows xp professional on hoping it would work, but I still have exactly the same problem? Is there something obvious i'm missing?

    thanks for any ideas

The only thing I can think of is that the driver info in the folder is somehow corrupted, if you haven't already try downloading the VCP driver again Virtual COM Port Drivers
if you want to start from scratch @dailydoggy has done a Vista/INPA install guide http://www.bmwforums.info/ecu-diagno...ows-vista.html

Trouble installing driver onto OBD II lead

FYI I bought this http://bit.ly/T2bBc2 off eBay last week, no modification necessary, works via USB on Windows Vista, and came with really good instructions. INPA and NCS Expert both worked fine.
