Which turbo you use in the end? Thinking T3 would be sufficient and intrigued about intercooler sizing
You actually did that ? Wow, you're a prepared man!
Well, you better delete that file, as this thread will be more updated
I've got a Garrett T series turbo also. And If i can remember correctly, this is what i got:
    - The INTAKE compressor housing has a mark that says "A/R .48" and the Exhaust outlet has a mark that says "A/R .49"
A/R is how most people would identify the Garrett turbos, since there is a lot of variations of them
(I forgot if my turbo is T3 or T25, as i ruined the sticker by scratching it )

I think T3 is fine, .....It's more important to get a SMALL sized turbo otherwise it won't fit under the car!!!
Find a turbo that has an internal wastegate too .... external wastegates would mean extra exhaust pipe welding & plumbing, & some actuator-pipe headaches!
Also, be sure you get the correct turbo that matches you turbo-manifold
.....unless you don't mind sending your turbo & the manifold to a welder , who can make a welded flange/flat-plate that connects the turbo & the manifold together..

As for the intercooler, I'm actually upgrading mine soon! This universal intercooler below is more than sufficient:

Also an intercooler from an E36 TDS would be fine as they use Garrett chargers too.
(I'll probably buy it ^ , if i see one at the scrappies)

hey wanda I'm new to the forum (only joined because i stumbled upon your thread). I have the 1.9 m43 and I was wondering how your car is holding up with the turbo setup as i am planning to do the same to my car but what I'm also afraid of is that I'll blow the engine as the internals are stock and my engine just crossed the 200k km mark.

    Hey paggie;
I loved it when the kit was on my car.
It held up pretty well for an engine that is around 160K ; i had no problems whatsoever since the boost level was around 5-7psi.

The maximum an m43 can handle is 12-15psi; that is with some serious engine upgrades.

Otherwise 5psi is okay; for just stock internals.

Ive scrapped the car anyways ; the kit is with another owner.

My next project will be a supercharged bmw instead

that's great to hear. Are you planning to supercharge the m43 engine or are you going with another car altogether? And do you know where i can get upgraded internals for the engine?

Yeah possibly or another 4cyl but we'll see.

For m43 upgrades; why not ::
    - close this topic
    - go back to the "BMW Tuning" Section
    - find my thread called "a guide to tuning & performance upgrades for m4x engines"
    (Its on the first page)
