    Found a good garage

    Autoleys

Unit 1 Acer Court, Acer Rd, Saddlebow, King's Lynn, Norfolk, PE34 3HN
    Tel: 01553 766611

The guys name is Ian Leys, he has specialised on BMWs for 20+ years and most of those years in BMW main dealers. He saved me a fortune with an airbag fault, BMW dealer wanted to charge me near on 1000 to replace a cable that might not fix it, Ian actually tested cables and repaired a dodgy plug on a completely different cable to what BMW was going to charge me so much to replace!

Ian is a really nice, useful and helpful guy who charges very reasonable prices and he really does know his stuff! Main dealer skills and knowledge for a fraction of the price?? Can't really go wrong!

    Highly recommended

It is far but I was visiting my gf's parents who live near there.

I've got rough idle and won't be able to diagnose until I hook up my laptop and run live diagnostics from a cold start. I was just hoping Ian Leyes could eliminate potential causes by poking around (like vacuum leaks for example). He spent a good 40 mins checking it out and hooking up to his computer, running diagnostics (despite being really busy and I hadn't even booked an appointment- I just turned up). Unfortunaley couldn't find the cause but did make me feel better about leaks etc. Everything seems to be in order. We reset my adaptions too but unfortunately that didn't resolve the tough idle.

He says he'd like to fix it but would need the car overnight so he could check it out from a cold start. Couldn't do it when I was there as I was due to drive home the next day.

After all the work, I offered to pay him for his time and he refused. Did it all for free

He explained a lot of potential causes and got a bit technical. Sounds like he knows a fair bit and @Dale69 rates him. He's a nice bloke and I'm happy I went to him. I would use him again to fit parts etc. In fact I was thinking about asking him to fit my Z3M short shifter if I end up buying it. Just got to figure out if I need to bend the shifter (see my thread asking for help in the technical section).

    Sorry, don't know about that.

Mstyle in Romford do though. I use them a lot. However, labour is about 70 odd an hour.
