    Getting crazy ideas...e36...M57

I can't seem to shake this idea of building an e36 with a slightly tuned M57 engine; with a basic map the e39 530d's go bloody well so my thinking is 'wouldn't that be awesome in an e36?!'
Kind of torn between doing it to a coupe or a touring, coupe would be more different.

Am I mad or does this sound like a good idea to anyone else?

    Well yeah lol

I've roughed it out and it sort of goes like this:
e36 coupe...something with decent spec etc but blown engine for example 1000
e39 530d body damage but decent engine and manual box 1500
    Misc 1500
That's 4k which is a lot considering you can buy a nice 330d for that....but it'll be unique!

As I say, just a really rough 'plan' at present but I really fancy building something different like this.

It would be a great project Tom, even better with a V8 slipped in

lol Funny you should mention the V8. I actually came to the conclusion that the M57 would be easier due to the horror stories you hear about the V8's needing dry sumps etc.

I reckon you have priced the donor cars a bit high.
Would be cool to see it done though!
If you get a solid flywheel you can push some good power from the 3.0d

Always good to over price tho because I think the misc is about right price which in reality means its miles out and it's going to be double haha but sounds a awesome project and you should go on eBay and buy everything right now!!!!

I've priced everything a bit high as a worst case scenario, but I don't think their a million miles off from what I've seen. I'd also want to recoup a bit from selling bits I didn't need off them...but this is all sounding like I'm actually going to do it lol
It's just an idea I've been mulling over more than I should lately.
