I'm not familiar with the X5, but is there not a lock on the boot?

I am not 100% sure but I believe the key in the remote fob only works on the Drivers door and the locking floor in the boot?

If that is the case then it is going to be difficult to gain Access without causing some damage.

The only Thing I can think off, is getting the front of the car up on axle stands, remove the undertray and try and gain Access to the large positive terminal that is used to jump the car (or perhaps the large positive cable on the starter!??) and apply an external power scource using the negative as any Major metal component on the vehicle and then use the remote control. It would work on a normal old car but do not know about these new fangled jallopies!!?!!
