    8 years ownership

Hi, its been a while since I last posted.

Its been 8 years since I bought my car, by far the longest period of ownership for me.

Changed the front wings due to return of rust and had rust treatment (surface) on rear arches and seam just above rear bumper plus around boot release, usual place. Had front bumper refinished also.

Just ticked passed 107k miles up from 53k when I bought.

Hope you've all been enjoying yourselves 👍

Well long time no see Wrenny

It's such a same the arches are so shite & often fail on the E46 or otherwise it'd be ,well as I've found , a cheap old motor to maintain.

Mines on 138k now & having recently replaced the oil filter housing gasket and the oil sensor so she's pretty much back up to 100% & pulls well for an old 'un

Like e36coupe-328 says , "just run in" & no doubt worth far more to you than its resale book value /

So is the plan to just keep doing what you're doing?

Yes just going to carry on, only use the car once or twice a week to get me to the train station. Only issues are I need to sort out the thermostat as it takes a while for the temp. needle to reach vertical and a leaky washer fluid bottle.

My hope is to keep things ticking over and maybe have a major refit in 2024, re leathered plus mechanical refresh etc., when I'll have access to my pension funds

I'm pretty much the same mate , I think I did just over 3k in mine last year so hopefully it'll last a good while yet as I wouldn't have a clue what to replace it with

    Almost my annual post

Alloy wheel refurbishment time again. I'm thinking about breaking with convention. Keeping mv1's as they suit the car. I've gone from silver to graphite and back to silver. For some strange reason I'm thinking dark blue or dark red metallic

Google throws up usual colours but nothing alternative.

    Up-to 108500 miles now.

Hi e36coupe, you might be right on that call. I did think about it before I went a little darker with graphite. I always thought the shadow chrome looked good with painted calipers.
