    Beaten by a Type R???

Hey everyone, been a while since I have been on, so apologies it's not been very often lately, was out for a blast last night, good bit of fun, had a play with a Civic Type R, now there are quite a few tuned Civics near me and I do know a few people running super chargers, however didn't recognise this one. I was comfortably ahead for around 15 miles, without him able to get past, always slow for villages, came out of a 40, went round a few bends in 4th at 60ish, then planted it coming out the bend. However he was level with me as I was coming out the bend then had enough power to get past.
My car is a 330D Sport, running 231bhp mapped and ample torque, I do need new rear tyres, but there was no slip, I have my EGR disconnected but other than that car runs well, however have been advised I "may" have a faulty/bad MAF. However generally she runs quick and true and like a dream.

Is it likely he got on the power earlier than me, so was able to get past, as I was going slower when I started to accelerate? Is it possible it was tuned? Or is there another possiblity? It just seems a bit of a difference, I know they are lighter, but still? Am I being unrealistic?

    Don't understand you either.

FWD booted out of a bend, if they have enough power to break tracktion push the nose out and understeer, which is what it souds like you are saying, but the Typre R won.

Sounds to me like CBRbiker13 got outbraked and the type R either carried more speed through or got the drop on accelerating. It is much easier to outbreak someone than it is to be in front without a frame of reference. Not to mention if you watch how people brake, most people do the comfort dab

You were in 4th. He would have been in 3rd at around 6.5k revs. Type r get their power from high revs when the vtec has kicked in. He would have been in the perfect power band. You were at low revs and although you have a diesel it would not compare to the type r at that particular point.

Too many variables to say he has a quicker car - but at least you didn't have to fill the tank up after 5 mins!!!

It wasn't braking dude, we had just come out a 40 then straight into 2 bends for the distance previously I had been carrying more speed through corners for whatever reason (driver, car etc?) think it's down to acceleration and gearing at that point and the fact he started to put the power down before me.

To the guy who asked about the end of the world, no it isn't lol, I have far more important things like new born twins lol, however it surprised me as to how well he kept up, just makes me want to get to that magic 300 mark all the more lol
