Got some free tickets to Silverstone classics this weekend and what an amazing day out it was. Just about every cool car ever built was there and some hugely expensive stuff that was refreshingly being ragged around the track including a spattering of Ferrari 250 GTO's.
My favorites were all the 90's touring cars and the F1 cars from the 70's and 80's. It was also completely open to the public and I was able to wander around all the pits watching the guys getting the cars ready for qualifying.
First up was the stands in and around the track.
Absolutely mint B3
A couple of Gt's
An amazing display of Porsches
A Z3 ssection:
A few Lotus':
Official BMW stand:
An X5 driver being closly followed by the AA:
Some prancing horses:
Lovely Lambo SV:
The epitome of cool hot hatch:
Very expensive MF1:
The went to the pits where it was all open to the public and I was free to wonder around all the guys prepping the cars for qualifying.
Inside the pits:
Out in the pit lane with an E-type coming in:
Inside the cockpit of an old 911- some advice from the team!:
Then the moment I'd been waiting for and the best bit of the day for me- the old touring cars qualifying in the wet. I watched these as a kid and loved everyone of them. For me the 1992 BTCC final with Soper and Mcleland and Harvey is still the most exciting race I have ever seen.
Shots of the cars out on a very wet track qualifying:
M635 was the loudest car out there- it made such a racket.
The it was all the old F1 cars:
Then it was the even older grand prix cars
Other random cars:
Yet another F40:
Touring cars back in after the qualifying:
So glad I went and beats any other car related day out I've ever been to by a country mile.
Hope you enjoy the pics
