    Selling up

    Hi all,

Im thinking of selling my e36 328i and buying a e39 530i sport, I'd like one with sat nav etc as they seem quite cheap now, can anyone tell me what to look out for on them and what years any facelifts etc were done please. Also, were some of the 530's v8? as I'm not sure I want a v8

Yeh but you don't want a 530 v8 it was only the early ones in not sure in the swap over year maybe 1999? But yeh if you get a v8 get a 540 4.4 v8 if not a 530 6cyl will be nice enough!

I'd say do it tho! I love my 523 and only wish it was a 530 they are fantastic cars and so glad I got mine

Sounds like a plan Speerzie, think it would be a good bit more to run the your 6 cyl tho mate and like you said youd have to choose very carefully as a neglected one could soon empty your wallet

If i didnt have the e34 id have an e39 as well mate but a single vanos 2.8 manual with the manifold swap etc, would be a good all rounder imho

Would a 6 cyl 3.0 cost alot more than my 328i to run? I know its a heavier car but wouldnt the extra power ballance that out?
@Niall_farley is your 523i dear to run mate? as my other thought is a 330i e46, but im not a big fan of the e46 looks tbh

My 523 is cheap to run mate I've just drove 65 miles to Harrogate today and trip says 42mpg which is probably 40mpg in the real world! I've averaged 47 on the trip on a 350 mile trip before as well! Also had no real problems I had one that was my fault and a daft one with the speedo not working that fixed itself bud

Honestly get one you really won't be dissatisfied! It's a fantastic car!
