So had to rescue my other half off the M4 this evening of course i got the proper people to tow her off the motorway then had to tow her from Bath to Bristol honestly hardly felt her there at all and the BM still pulled like a beast shame i couldnt convince her to keep the rope tight at lights for those that are interested she drives a mercedes benz A160 not the biggest car but im still proud she did it without any fuss (the car that is) also got a few funny looks a BMW towing a Mercedes

When my Clubsport SSG popped I had to be towed 13miles along a back road to my chosen garage (by MIL's Land Cruiser). I have never been so petrified in a car in all my life

I told her her if you have to stand on the fecking brakes lol she had to use the hand brake and brakes to get the lights most of the way i did take it easy is it me or is it a bit more worrying in a rear wheel drive car than a front wheel drive

You just say "When I flash my brake lights you brake for both of us and stop me before the line, then I will move up tot he line and you keep the rope tight"

My wife was towed twice in a week years ago, first time by someone else and had a nerve wracking time, second time by me and I just told her tha and it was drama free.

Unless leaving the brake on a bit (bad idea) it's nearly impossible to keep a rope taught when you don't know when the person in front is going to brake or how hard. Setting expectations and having one person pull and one person brake makes sure everyone knows what;s expected and works.

It's you. There is a reason most tow ing vehicles are RWD

Towed my old bosses jeep cherokee with mine, all 2 odd tonnes of it went well! He was keeping the brakes slightly on. When we got back there was smoke coming off the brakes from a small oil leak that was getting on them

Or just because overheated brakes smoke, such as if someone kept them slightly on all the time
