What brought you to a BMW car?

I just wondered what journey brought you guys to buying a BMW?

For me it was going from the 350Z to a v5 Golf for a couple of years and missing the excitement that I had when driving the Z, had a look at a number of different cars and decided on the 6 for a couple of different reasons, not least of all was the service I got from the dealer when I first enquired about the car (much better service than the Nissan dealership and I had purchased 3 brand new cars from him compared to the 2nd hand one from BMW).

Overall really pleased with the car and the experiences so far.

My Jeep died and I waited for months looking for the "right" VW Bora. Got totally fed up with no having a car so bought the cheapest one I could find, a E36 328i off my mate for £300.
Really didn't like BMW's before that, from my experience of my Mothers E46 320d Touring.

At the time, I felt like there weren't a HUGE number of them on the road and they were an upgrade from my previous Civic Type R. Originally, when I had my Type R, I was looking at 335i and a blow off valve, then I wrote it off the R off and I was gutted. This was before I knew about the problems with the 335i. I loved that it was quick, elegant, relatively expensive and that I could fit a BOV. The write off ruined all of that. Changed everything. Looked at E46 M3 and thought "it would do" (compared to 335i) but insurance was CRAZY (circa £3000 per year at the time) so I "settled" with a 330ci. Wasn't completely chuffed searching etc until I actually drove it and saw it in person. It's not an M3 but was the more practical choice at the time. First year's insurance was only (lol) £2,500

Dads had a new 3 series every 3 years for as long as I can remember, they've always been lively cars inside and is seen them do mad miles. Decided as soon as I could get hold of one or an mx5 I would. The Beemer turned up at work the next day and I had it.

I got bored of my mk2 golf gti and swapped it for my mates E36 316i + some extra cash.

I didn't want a BMW at the time I just wanted the cash as I was saving up for a new car. Didn't know what i wanted as long as it was bigger and better on long runs.

After pottering about in the 316 I realised how nice and comfy it was a and how much I enjoyed driving it. It was extremely underpowered but just felt like a decent car and the perfect size for me. I carried on saving and bought my E46 330. Had It just over 4 years now and still can't think of anything I'd rather have for the money.

Had my 1st one at 19, an e30 316 which was the dogs bollocks at the time. Remember that was 14 years ago and all my mates had novas...
I always liked the shape and the wrap around dash, the 1st time I ever had anything to do with one was when I started my apprenticeship. They guy who was training me had an E21 323i in black with bbs's...
Owned loads of e30's and e36's since I was 19. Would have been a rich man now if I hadn't got bit by the bug....

After buying a Ford Model T new and running it into the ground I found my BMW very comfortable but a bit slow and difficult to drive

Always remember when i was a kid, when bmws were more exclusive, hearing the 6 cyl noise of e3s, e21s and e12s etc driving by and just loved it. Fordies were the cars of the day and the 3 litre Capris/ Granadas etc sounded good but not as good as the bmws

Got 2 now, probably my 10th/ 12th, and although theyre old they still sound as good to me now as they did 30 years ago
