    How do angel eyes work?

Maybe a stupid question this, but I'm thinking of getting some angle eyes fitted and was wandering how exactly you wire them up/control them.

Do they allways come on when you have your headlights on or can you have headlights on without angle eyes?
I thought they might be run from the side light switch - so this would mean you can run angle eyes without headlights but not headlights without angle eyes.

    Someone enlighten me lol

I've got mine wired upto the side lights - I removed the wiring the original sidelight bulbs and wired the CCFL's into the harness.

So the CCFL's come on when ever I put sidelights on

You could wire yours up how ever you wanted. You could put a separate switch in, so they're completely independent of the headlight switch.

I edited my first post to say that you could wire your own switch in.... So in this instance, you'd need to run a separate switch.

Logged in using tapatalk so can't see your car. Assume you've got an E46.

There are a few different angel eyes out there. Normally people wire them up to replace their existing side lights. You then have an option to have them functioning just like your existing side lights (so can be switched on and off at will) or you can (like me) have them setup as daytime running lights that come on when or engine is on and/or when your interior lights come on.

As DLR this means they fade on as you unlock your car and fade out when you lock it. Looks very cool.

I have the Umnitza Orion 2s which are pricey but are very very bright and can be seen during the day. These LED rings stick on and around your main beams.

If they are as bright blue as I think they are then you're definitely asking to get pulled over. Orion angel eyes are only slightly blue and I've never had any problems with police.

    I'm based in Woodford. You?
