What are your general thoughts on iDrive, specifically in the e90 3 series?
Personally i think the whole thing looks like someone thought "where can i stick this? Yeh that will do"

I think its cool and was one of the main reasons I sold my E90 to get an E60

It is spot on in my opinion. Intuitive, and once you know your way around it you wonder why every manufacturer doesn't use it.
I was in somebody else's BMW yesterday wit the latest generation and I was flying around it despite not using one for 18 months.

Completely agree with Mark here. To be honest, when I see a 3 Series with a 325 badge or better WITHOUT iDrive I think why would you bother? Cheapness of the first owner is likely the answer but I'd certainly go out of my way to get it now. Professional too
As above also, Clarkson likely still can't operate a digital watch - wrong generation - he's a complete prick when it comes to tech. It is easy to use and indispensable when you've had it for a while.
Speed i drive, i wouldnt even know it was there anyway!
Dead easy: iDrive cars have the dashboard with the secondary 'hump' in the middle housing the screen. Ordinary ones are flat.

318 to 325 it's a fair choice but 320 to 325 would be a tough call (ok, if the 320s were still 6 pots). Put it this way if someone offered me a 330d with all the toys (of which iDrive is a massive one) or a poverty spec 335d, I'd have the 330d
All this 'Ultimate Driving Machine' bollocks is just marketing - you'll spend 90% of your time driving following some doddery old twat or sat in a 30mph zone. What's more important there?
