Look out for rust on all the arches. The differences are different seats, interior trim, side skirts, bumpers, black head lining, MV1 alloys and steering wheel.

Very similar engine to the one sitting on your car but slightly more modern.
    Great cars

Really good cars - run your fingers over the inside of the arches to feel for rust bubbles starting. I wouldn't let that put me off though just haggle.

listen for noises from the belts/ pulleys, check it brakes straight and true often get sticky calipers on these ( also check pads are worn evenly)
Obviosuly you will want to do a HPI check and have a proper look through the service history.

I would want to see that that car has been serviced early with mileage like that..
Might be worth phoning some of the garages who have carried out MOTs to varify mileage as that is extremly low
    But yeh great cars

That's a lovely car in a nice colour. Probably all the car most people would ever need.

The M54 engine is a peach (I had a 330) - bullet proof to all intents and purposes. The only thing other than the above I'd check quickly is the oil level on the day. These can use a litre in 1500miles or less (still within tolerance) but it could take the less savvy owner by surprise. Yours would probably be similar though.

Thanks for all your help guys

I will be checking all of the above tomorrow,

Should i worry about the rear sub frame to where it mounts on the boot floor pan?....Or did BMW get there act together in the year 2000?

I think they changed the rear subframe halfway through 2001 so this one should be fine

Very low mileage for a 10 year old car

I've not heard of vanos issues on M54 engines - certainly wouldn't be worried on a car with 27k
