You may be the best driver in the world, but don't forget we share the road with a fair few morons. They might do something stupid (as morons do) and cause an accident that may not be your fault.

    You're missing the point.
What difference does knowing you're going to be really fucked if you crash in an older car make? You could have probably worked that out...
I've lost a mate in a car crash and watching videos of what happens really serves no purpose, you get in a bad accident you are in trouble whether you've watched a video of it or not.
Crash tests are essential to test cars that's all

My point is that I, me, find it interesting at how things react to certain situations. And I sure I am not the only one. I like to see how things have improved over the years. Without scientific observations, cars wouldn't be as safe as they are nowadays. The last thing that will go through my mind right before an accident (hopefully that will never happen) will be these videos. Maybe there are other people out there who have the same interest as me/find these sorts of things interesting. I know Lee_h was watching Plane Crash earlier tonight and so was I. It's a similar thing to these car crash test, but they use a plane instead.

I didn't post these videos to serve as a purpose like make you think twice before taking a risk or what car to buy. We should all try to drive as safely as possible. But newer cars are designed to give you the best possibility of surviving a crash compared to older ones.

Didn't realise there was no improvement from E39 to E60 (well, not in stars anyway). That's a surprise...

Yes 5 is max I think. They're both 4. That is unless they reevaluate the ratings as time goes on so that 5 will always be the best and it gets harder to achieve....

Fair enough hate them myself - and don't think they represent any accident really but there we are that's what makes the world go round..
