    Looking to change from my e46 to e90

    Right guys, having owned my e46 saloon for just over 3 years and the wife having an on going knee problem that is progressively getting worst I'm not think of changing from a manual to a auto as she drives it the most with the lol one.

    As I want to change to an auto I'm also wanting a diesel, so this leaves me 2 options - the. E90 320d or 330d. I've don't two different insurance quote and there is just 70 difference between them. And 120 cheaper than my current 318.

    My budget will be between 9-10k, what sort of things should I look out for on the e90's?

    What is the difference in tax and service costs between the 2?

    Final question is would j be beat selling my current loon as it is or return back to standard?

    That would be the idea In Time but would leave it as it is for a year or so.

    Is there anything to keep an eye out for between the 2?

    Have you given any thought about a E60 530d that would be my first choice

    Then a remap

    If you can afford the slight increase in insurance and decrease in mpg then it's a six pot all the way, they're a smoother better balanced engine.
    I'm sure a test drive of the 2 varients will make this very apparent?

    Try selling the loon as is on Pistonheads or other sites that'll appreciate your upgrades, if that fails to get much interest return to standard & sell the bits separately.

    Looking to change from my e46 to e90

    I'm used to around 29-33mpg in my 318. What the average mpg in the 330d?

    Haven't really given any thought to the 530 as I've always liked the e90 and now I'm in the possition to get one and my wife is wanting an auto it's my perfect excuse for one

    Boss has an e90 330d manual, obc says average is 44ish iirc. And the pull it has. Get one.

    So will 9-10k get me a decent one? Will have to be an m-sport! What sort of mileage do things start going wrong on them?

    I don't think you could get a decent one (ie low mileage) for 10k. SE yes but not M sport.
