    E60 5 series

Hi guys, so just some info required please! I'm thinking of getting a e60 sometime in the next 6 months Iv been looking for a decent one for the last couple if weeks but there are NO decent ones with a good engine at the min.

So my choices are either the 530i or the 535d, at a push IF it comes with all the extras a 530d I am not getting a 535i.... No chance no how

So I want to know the extras lists and how to know if it has some of the less obvious...

I would like a sport but not essential and I want toys such as the head up display. Do they all come with navs? What about tv and stuff? Heated leathers?

When was there a facelift and what did the face lift consist of?

I don't know much about these cars as wasn't really interested but drove one and was amazed at how they drive!!!! Fantastic cars really and come across a lot lighter and smaller than they are!

    Thanks in advance guys!!!!

You're right about that mate... they didn't make one in the E60 shape

I think the 530i comes with the last of the M54 lumps (maybe this changed over to the later 3l found in the E9x at some point?), would be a lovely drive with great sound, although not particularly 'fast' or economical. You'll have more choice if you look at 530d's as ther are far more of those around than 535d's. Both rock solid though, just keep an eye out for the obligatory DFP issues on both and swirl flaps on the 530d (think all the 535d's have the revised design but might be wrong).

I would personally love a late model (09/10) E61 535d msport but they're just a bit out of my price range at the mo. Fantastic cars with stellar pedigree

Isn't the e61 the estate? And didn't realise they didn't do a 535! Good news anyway :p haha so what extras should I look out for bud? I think they did put a the newer 3ltr engine in them. How does the m54 go in the e60? I drove a 525d and to be honest I wouldn't be disappointed with it!!!! Nice car

As said tho all the examples over here 55 plate and such are a bit messy interior wise mainly and the 08 plates etc are a bit steep :(

    Over where?

I would imagine that the M54 would be adequate to make reasonable progress int he E60, and to be honest unless you're going to get an M5, that's really what a 5 Series is about - it should mainly 'waft'. That's also why I think the 530d would be ample (no need to bother about the 535d unless you can find a nice one at good price).

I'd just get as many extras as your cash will stretch. It would have to be an M Sport for me - the SE's look dull. I think they come with Nav across the board (not sure if there are different types), I've heard that the 'media pack' is the one to have (although I'm not 100% sure what that does) @530kam would be the man to advise I suspect.

Sorry I can't be of massive help but the 5's and 3's seem to have entirely different spec options.

    E60 5 series

I have a 05 535D and its an unbelievable car and it is in great condition.

You were asking about the packs which comes on the car.

Not all of them have nav as standard and there is two types of nav available

Business Nav which has no map only instructions where to turn and Pro Nav which has a bigger screen in the car and has the map function (the one to have tbh)

    My car came with:
    Pro Nav
Media Pack which is the pro nav and bluetooth connectivity for your phone and a 6 disc cd changer
Visibility Pack - Bi Xenon Headlights and Auto Dim Mirrors With Autofold
    Heated Leather
    Climate Control
and is an M Sport so has all the kit and is slightly lower than the SE.

Currently getting aroud 32.4 mpg buthats it remapped to 340BHP as well.

All and all an awesome bit of kit

Only problem I had with mine was a blocked DPF but I just removed it and problem solved

Took me a while to find this one though as I looked a few dogs and not many had the same options as this one but was worth making the trip to London to get it although Belfast to London to Stranraer to Belfast again in one day was a killer journey

    Re: E60 5 series

E60 530i's are like rocking horse shit Niall, my gaffer gave up looking for a decent example but you should have plenty of 530d's that'll take your fancy.
If you go with the derv look for comprehensive service history or even better a conscientious owner

    E60 5 series

I've just been out in a 535d m sport with spiders and a lot of kit it had black leather would prefer cream but was a good example in dark blue.

Had 70k full BMW service history 2006 and was pretty quick for a doozel!

Seemed to have all the gear. So how do you find if it has ProNav appart from the screen size?
