    Bmw Tailgating

    /rant on

Of late I've been travelling everywhere at circa 70mph in the most left lane I can (ie when not overtaking). I'm doing this due to the effin amount of miles I've been doing recently so I really can't afford to be bombing it everywhere.

I've noticed that other Bmw's with the small engines keep tailgating me (316/318/320/520). Surely they should know what the badges on the rear indicate??

Most recent was a E46 316!?! I was coming off a motorway and joining another in the rain he was about 1m from my rear the whole way around the corner.

So in essence is anyone else experiencing this or do I have to travel everywhere as if my hair is on fire?

    /rant off.

Sorry it's just annoying me lately.

    Don't worry about it mate!

When they do it to me I just slow down by a few mph and they fuck off, don't brake though!

Yes! Especially in the 30 zones, its like they they are trying to prove something. I just take my foot off the gas and slow down 'cos i know it'll annoy them more-childish i know but, hey!

I genuinely think people don't realise they are doing it.

You tend to get a lot of people doing it who look like they regard driving as something they want to do causing the most danger as possible. Had some woman following me what seemed like 3 inches from my bumper in the pouring rain on Friday. No chance of reaction time in the gap

Also the other annoying thing of late is when you're approaching a lorry, both in first lane and there's a car approaching you . The vast majority will either 1) pull out (if actually using the first lane) and sit on your rear quarter as you're approaching this lorry 2) get right up to you, sit there until the last moment then pull out into the second lane without indicating.

I don't react to it, 99% of my motorway driving is with cruise control on.

Touching my pedals means they have won.

happens to me all the time but I find its usually little corsas/saxos etc with young lads in who drive up your arse when your cruising at 70, thats when the brake test comes handy

In my experience it's normal VW vans, Citroens or Ford Mondeos that tailgate.
