    If you can stomach the petrol there is some right bargain cruisers around to be had. Lets see 1k would also buy you a fairly ordinary garlic spec renault clio or an E39. Ive never driven an e39, i do like the look of them but not old enough to think about owning one

    that shed of the week feature is fun but usually a bad guide to ownership that e39 is a classic case as it would probably cost a packet to get right I would go for something simpler thats been properly maintained e34 or w124 merc or a cheap petrol audi a6.

    Oh dont get me wrong i agree it would be a money pit, suspension and cooling system come to mind. At 900 though you could just waft around in it for a couple of years and run it into the ground.

    yeah but thats the problem even if it was driveable for a lengthy period without needing expensive repair they are no fun to drive with knackered suspension etc I like a car to be right otherwise it just gets on my tits.
