    Nightmare service!

So i serviced my car after work last night, no big deal it was just an oil service. As i was putting the sump plug back in the fooker snapped! This was without any real pressure seemed to go as soon as it butted upto the sump. at this point it was 5pm. Couldnt find an m12x1.5m bolt anywhere at work. The local coopers is a mini dealer and would have to order one in. Turns out our apprentice was out and about near the other local Cooper dealer so after 2 phone calls he was on his way to the stealers after he finished what he was doing and they had one on the parts counter waiting for collection. Wrong! the apprentice was at Coopers for 40 mins as they had no record of me ordering it and the one the bin wasnt there. After that time another parts bloke appeared and said oh yeah here it is i havnt booked it out yet. SO what should of taken an hour ended up taking 4. On top of all that i knew my front tyres were getting low, turns out i need 2 rears aswell. Don't think anyone is getting and christmas presents after 4 new tyres .

    Feck nightmare of a job!

Wonder how long you'd have had to wait if a garage had done that? (And if they'd tell you? )

Not sure you'd get a oil tight seal with a 60 degree chamfer

Yeah worst come to worst would of left it on the ramp and took a works van home. Dont think the chamfer on a wheel Bolt would butt up tight to the sump given the thread dont sit flush with the outside of it.

Epic flashback, I did that on my Golf, well more specifically the bolt sheared the threads and wouldn't take. Tried a helicoil, didn't work, and in the end needed to replace the entire sump at a cost of over 400. All because of 1nm too much torque

I would have got a bigger sump plug off something and a larger drill and tap, or welded it up and sucked the oil out in future
